Project Description
The Note is a hotel in the centre of Vejle, in the building above the town’s music theatre. The name nods to the music, and to the idea of a note of something: a taste of the city, a line in a guest book. The owners wanted one thing above all: calm. Real luxury, they argued, is the absence of noise.
Early sketches reached for staves, fermatas and theatre masks. All of it went. What stayed was a single gesture: the O of NOTE opens a crack, like a door left ajar, with a small dot for a handle. It hints without explaining, and it invites you in. Around it the palette keeps to deep green, pale green and white, and the typography stays composed from key card to façade.
Then the system went to work. Letterheads and templates for the whole hotel group, 20,000 placemats, business cards, evacuation plans, banners and door films, a light sign specified to dim at night, and an animated wordmark for the website. Every piece drawn once, then produced with the printers and sign makers who make it hold in daylight.
The last piece took the longest. The painted logo on the gable wall needed a 3D sketch, a presentation to the municipality and a summer of negotiation before a painter went up the ladder in August 2025. The result is an identity that behaves like the stay it promises. Check in, breathe out.
